Mr. Robert Frank Davis, Sr. was born May 17, 1925 in Columbia, SC and died Tuesday December 13, 2011. Mr. Davis, a long time resident of DeKalb County, retired after a successful career as a facilities engineer with AT & T Long Lines division. He served proudly in the US Army during World War II and was involved in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in engineering. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Bundrick Davis. Together they were long time and active members of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church and recently, First United Methodist Church, Dacula, GA. Other survivors include son, Robert F. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Celia; daughter, Claire Davis Smith and her husband, Bill; also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to The When Everyone Survives Foundation for Leukemia Research, a foundation established after the loss of one of his grandchildren, Wes Smith, from complications of the disease. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons at 11:00 am, Saturday December 17, with Rev. Larry T. Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Mills Memorial Gardens, Tucker,GA with military honors. The family will receive friends on Friday December 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons.
