Brookwood grad Sean Johnson begins U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team training camp this week as he and the American soccer team push toward the 2012 Olympics in London.
Johnson, a goalkeeper with the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer, has U-23 camp through Dec. 23. It's the second camp for the group of 28 players, who will eventually make up the core of the U.S. Olympic soccer team next year.
The U.S. first must qualify for the Olympics from Group A of the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament, which is held March 22-26 in Nashville. The group also features Canada, Cuba and El Salvador, with the top two finishers earning spots in the Olympics.
Johnson, 22, is one of six players in camp with experience on the full U.S. National Team. He made his only appearance this past January in a 1-1 tie with Chile.
