Get pet photos with Santa at Discover Mills
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Animal lovers can bring their pets to Santa's Workshop at Discover Mills on Sunday for a chance to meet St. Nick and get a picture on his lap during Pet Night.
Pet Night is for domestic pets only, and all animals must be leashed or in a carrier. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets as well as for the animals' behavior while at Discover Mills.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Discover Mills, 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville. Visits with Santa are free. Photo package prices may vary.

Foster named professional of year by GCVB
LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau recently named Malinda Foster the Industry Professional of the Year, the highest award given annually. Foster is the director of sales for the Courtyard by Marriott Mall of Georgia, managed by Atlanta-based Hotel Equities.
The peer-driven award is chosen by votes from the entire Gwinnett County hospitality industry. Foster's peers nominated her for "exceeding expectations; developing strong relationships with staff, the local community and other hotels; maintaining integrity and professionalism; and giving back to her community."
Lisa Anders, deputy director of the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau, said Foster is "the consummate professional, always client-focused, always driven for service and sales excellence ... an industry veteran, she serves as a mentor to many in Gwinnett."
Foster joined Hotel Equities five years ago and helped open the Courtyard Mall of Georgia hotel as director of sales. She also serves as a sales team leader for Hotel Equities with leadership responsibility for other hotels in the firm's portfolio.
She also is an active volunteer with the March of Dimes, Children's Miracle Network, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Make a Wish Foundation.
Council elects new board member
DULUTH -- The Council for Quality Growth has announced proposed directors to serve during 2012-13. The Leadership Slate represents an "outstanding cross section of professional and regional interests."
New board members elected to serve include Wendy S. Butler, Coleman Talley, LLP; Adam Orkin, Orkin and Associates, LLC; Harry Rice, Atkins; Malaika Rivers, Cumberland CID; Scott Selig, Selig Enterprises Inc.; and Dan Sherman, Greenberg Traurig.
According to its website, the Council for Quality Growth is a not-for-profit trade organization "promoting balanced and responsible growth in the metro Atlanta region."
