Dorothy Jane Schwenke Weaver, 88, of Lawrenceville and formerly of Dunwoody, died December 5, 2011. Mrs. Weaver was born in Roanoke, Virginia and was an Alumnae of Marion College. She married her childhood sweetheart Cecil R. “Buck” Weaver following his return from WWII. They were married for 62 years and raised two girls. Mrs. Weaver was an avid homemaker, cook, seamstress, and gardener. She loved to travel with her husband who worked for Texaco, Inc. for 34 years. In Virginia and North Carolina they both enjoyed singing in the church choir. She enjoyed reading and spending time at the beach and with family. While living in Florida, she was an active member of the Catalina Garden Club and the Texaco Bowling League. After moving to Georgia, she and her husband became members of Berkeley Hills Country Club where she played golf with the ladies “9 Hole” group. She was a long time member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church for 42 years. She was an active member of the DUMC’s then Bowling League with her family; and DUMC’s “Serving Together Women’s Circle” until October 2003. Mrs. Weaver was a member of Lake Junaluska Methodist Association for many years. Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, C.R. “Buck” Weaver; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Schwenke; sisters, Mrs. Julia Eicher, Mrs. Patricia Aleshire; and brother, Mr. George Schwenke. Mrs. Weaver is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jane Anne and Bill Geier, Martha Lee and Dan Clark; grandchildren, Billy Geier, Sheri and Blaine Logue; and great grandchildren, Dean and Ryan Logue. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Dunwoody United Methodist Church with Dr. B. Wiley Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
