Mrs. Ophelia Corley Gilbert, 92, of Duluth, Georgia, passed away December 4, 2011. She was born on the family farm on Pleasant Hill Road in Gwinnett County to the late Dallas Luster Corley and Minnie Jones Corley. She grew up on Pleasant Hill Road, where Corley Elementary School stands on family land. She was peceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Iverson Gilbert and by siblings, Betty Corley Smith, Louise Corley Dyer, and William Marion Corley. Survivors include daughters, Glenda (Thomas) Blackstock of Jefferson, Mary (Robert) Malinowski of Atlanta, and Martha (Offie) Holmes of Norcross, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. The grandchildren are Col. Tom (Kristin) Blackstock, Trav Reynolds, L’Resu (Philip) Thompson, John ( Margie) Blackstock, Glenn Imes, Joe ( Jennifer) Blackstock, Derek (Mary) Imes, Gil Holmes, and Robby Malinowski. She is survived by siblings, Sarah Roberts, Marlon(Jean) Corley, and D. L.(Mary Ellen) Corley. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Home, Duluth Chapel. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
