SUWANEE -- Officials with Gwinnett County Public Schools have invited parents, community members and staff to participate in a review of the school district's curriculum.
The review offers two opportunities for participants to share feedback about the school system's Academic Knowledge and Skills curriculum.
Officials want input on new AKS curriculum that has been developed to align with new state Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. In addition, those interested can give feedback on additions, changes or deletions for the current curriculum.
Feedback is being accepted through Dec. 9 at www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us, and at local schools. Feedback may also be submitted through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Common Core Georgia Performance Standards is an updated state-level curriculum for K-12 language arts, K-12 mathematics and 6-12 literacy standards for science, social studies and technical education.
The revised curriculum will be phased in during the 2012-13 school year for K-12 language arts and K-10 mathematics.
According to the Georgia Department of Education's website, the standards are intended to "provide a consistent framework to prepare students for success in college and/or the 21st century workplace."
