The Archer wrestling team won the Southern Slam on Saturday, beating teams from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
The Tigers scored 195.5 points to easily defeat Hillcrest (S.C.) 158.5 points, White Knoll (S.C.) and Eastside (S.C.) scored 156 points and Fort Mill (S.C.) was fourth with 146 points. Parkview finished 16th in the 35-team tournament.
Every Archer wrestler scored points in the Tigers’ victory. Ernest Alexander was a tournament champion, while Isaiah Hunt was runner-up. Sam Bullard and Hunter McCleskey took third, DaQuan Olbert was fifth and Zach Wright was sixth.
The team with only one senior is now 14-1 with three tournament championships this season. Archer will host the Takedown Sportswear Super Duals on Saturday. The tournament will feature Archer, Grayson, Mill Creek, Hillgrove, Roswell, Peachtree Ridge, West Forsyth, Oak Mtn (Ala.), Spain Park (Ala.) and Bradley Central (Tenn).
