Mr. Eugene “Gene” Duren, age 78, of Carnesville, GA formerly of Hoschton, GA passed away on Thursday, December 01, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Lucy Duren; son, Jeffrey Duren; sisters, Catherine Lindaland, and Louise Duren; and brother, Henry Marion Duren. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Lamar Eubanks Duren, Carnesville, GA; daughter, Pamela Beth Duren, Carnesville, GA; son, Kenneth B. Duren San Jose, CA; grand-daughter Brooke Duren; sisters, Lillian Cannon, Winder, GA and Peggy Prince, Clermont, GA; brothers and sister-in-law Emmett Duren, Commerce, GA, D. C. Duren, Lawrenceville, GA, and Fred and Margaret Duren, Auburn, GA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Duren was born January 10, 1933 in Duluth, GA. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Boyle Midway after forty-one years. He was a member of Broad River Baptist Church in Eastanollee, GA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in memory of Gene Duren.
