The Atlanta Silverbacks professional soccer team announced Tuesday that it has signed goalkeeper Eric Ati, a Grayson grad, from its reserves squad. Ati is the first reserve signed to a contract this season.
Ati, 22, has played this season for the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves in the National Premier Soccer League, where he earned all-star recognition this summer. After graduating from Grayson, Ati played four seasons at Southern Poly and earned NAIA All-American honors as a senior.
Ati is training with the pro team this week, making him available for Saturday's game vs. the Puerto Rico Islanders.
In other Silverbacks news, Shiloh grad Emsad Zahirovic was released from the team for breach of contract. The Bosnian native joined the franchise for the first time earlier this year.
