DORAVILLE -- Gwinnett police charged an Atlanta man with vehicular homicide in a two-car crash early Saturday that killed his front-seat passenger, officials said Monday.
Luis Chauca-Morales, 44, is charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI and hit and run in a collision on Buford Highway at Global Forum Boulevard in Doraville.
Chuaca-Morales was also cited for driving without a license and failure to yield. Jail records indicate the native of Peru is also being held for federal immigration authorities.
The crash happened about 2:10 a.m., as Chuaca-Morales turned left onto the boulevard into the path of an oncoming vehicle. His passenger in the 2006 Toyota Corolla, Mario Villa-Anguerro, 43, later died of his injuries at Gwinnett Medical Center, said Gwinnett police spokesman Detective J.R. Flanagan.
"It is believed that alcohol was a factor in this accident," Flanagan said in a release.
No other injuries were reported.

Why would you refer to this guy as "an Atlanta man"? He is a Peruvian. There is a distinct difference.
