GDP Football: Defensive Player of the Week

Who: Mill Creek's Phillip Leconte

Position: Defensive end

Class: Senior

Highlights: Had nine tackles (three for losses), caused a fumble and recovered a fumble in the Hawks' 35-27 win over rival Dacula

Coach Shannon Jarvis' take: "Toward the end of last season you could really see Phillip developing into a tremendous defensive end. He has had a great offseason and continues to improve. His quickness off the ball really creates opportunities for big plays. His ability to play with great technique with his hands and low pad level make him extremely tough to block one-on-one."
