TEK-9, a 16U baseball travel team, finished as one of the top teams in four tournaments this summer.
The team was second in the Triple Crown North Atlanta Open, third in pool play in Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat tournament, went 5-1 in the Perfect Game WWBA World Series and finished second in the Silver Bracket of the CABA World Series.
The team is coached by Billy Keppinger and is operated out of The Cage in Buford and is comprised of players from Mill Creek, Mountain View, Collins Hill, Peachtree Ridge, and West Hall High Schools.GOLF
Hamilton Mill golf club captures city crown
The junior golfers at Hamilton Mill golf club recently won the city championship of the Junior League Golf. This is the inaugural season of the JLG and it consists of several clubs around metro Atlanta. The team featured golfers from ages 6-13 and was played in the best ball style format.
The Hamilton Mill squad, which is coached by PGA professional Chuck Scoggins, went undefeated in each of its matches to claim the title. They will compete in a national competition against winners from other regions of the country. Team members are Aaron Court, Brandon Cho, Luka Karaulic, Alex Markham, Jordan Rodriquez, Anthony Whobrey, Hayden Johnson, Conner Conkel, Brady Stephens, Drew Massey, Seth McAfee, Jake Bayer, Keagan Dunn, Kelson Dunn and Grace Choi.HOCKEY
Gerstmyer leads team to gold
Christopher Gerstmyer, a student at McConnell Middle School, was the goalie for the USA Southwest U-12 inline hockey team, which competed in the AAU Jr. Olympic International Tournament at Huntington Beach, Calif., in July. The team won the gold medal with seven consecutive victories. -- From staff reports
