LAWRENCEVILLE -- An Archer High School student was charged with battery this week following an alleged physical altercation with his teacher.
Kentrae Deion Nelson, a 17-year-old freshman at the Lawrenceville high school, was arrested following the Wednesday morning incident. According to a Gwinnett County Schools Police report, the altercation began when Nelson's teacher was "holding a paper that the student wanted."
The teacher told officers that Nelson then grabbed her by the hands and squeezed until she let go of the paper.
"The teacher felt threatened by the student's actions," according to the report.
Nelson has been charged with simple battery and disruption of a public school. Gwinnett County jail records show he was released Thursday on $4,800 bond.
Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said Nelson is "also facing disciplinary action."
