2010 record: 7-4
The Lions have a big task ahead of them against the Wolverines in Sal Battaglia's first game as Hebron's coach.
Much of the challenge lies within themselves -- specifically, their own youth, with most of the approximately 30 players on the roster being either freshmen or sophomores.
"I think we're going to be OK, but we're very young," Battaglia said. "We're asking 15- and 16-year-olds to play agianst 17- and 18-year-olds. Hopefully, we'll be pretty disciplined."
Perhaps the biggest task the Lions will have is trying to contain Prince Avenue junior quarterback Carl Mattox, who guided the Wolverines to their first winning record and first playoff appearance in school history as a sophomore last year.
"Their quarterback is a great athlete," Battaglia said of Mattox. "I haven't slept this week."
The Lions will rely on some of the few veterans they have, such as linebacker Tyler Smith and strong safety Lew Stephens, to provide the leadership they'll need in containment to try to keep Mattox under control.
Last meeting: Hebron won 35-13 last year
