Dacula Kelli Waugh didn't start for Dacula in Wednesday night's game against Walton, but she sure finished it off.
Waugh (3-4) gave up one hit in six innings of out of the bullpen and struck out four in a 6-3 win over the Raiders in the Gwinnett-Cobb Challenge.
Katy Daniels and Cassidy Culberson each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Falcons (5-5). Madison Moseley added two hits and two runs.
SOFTBALL
Brookwood 10, Woodstock 0
WOODSTOCK -- Megan Litumbe hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs as Brookwood beat up on Woodstock 10-0 on Wednesday. Litumbe finished 2-for-3 with three runs for the Broncos (12-1). Taylor Sexton had three hits and three RBIs, while Brandi Jones added two hits and an RBI. Jenny Blackwell also had two hits. Katie Gouveia knocked in a run. Rachel Hill (6-0) pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out three.
Buford 5, North Forsyth 3
DAHLONEGA -- Kodi Ricketson had three hits and two RBIs in Buford's 5-3 win over North Forsyth on Wednesday at North Georgia College and State University. Ricketson also scored two runs for the Wolves (5-5). Tessa Daniel (2-1) pitched a complete game and struck out one. She was also 2-for-4 at the plate. Jordan Peet was 1-for-3 with an RBI double, while Rebekah Rude had a hit and a run scored.
Archer 6, Westminster 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Madison Wyngaert won her fifth straight game in Archer's 6-1 victory over Westminster on Wednesday. Wyngaert (5-0) pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Jenna Graham and Holli Sturgill each went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Tigers (11-4). Alesha Mann and Taylor Harris each had a hit and a run scored.
Hebron 6, Commerce 0
DACULA -- Lyndey McCurry struck out eight hitters to lead Dacula to a 6-0 win over Commerce on Tuesday night. Taylor Ruehle, Brooke Crosby, Annie Ranus and Amber Walker each had two hits for the Lions (9-1).
VOLLEYBALL
Wesleyan swept on road
COLLEGE PARK -- Wesleyan lost to host Woodward Academy and Whitewater on Wednesday. The Wolves (6-11) fell to the War Eagles 25-19, 25-11 in the first match and dropped the other one to Wildcats 25-15, 25-11. Anna Davis had eight kills to lead Wesleyan, while Lauren Frerking added six. Ansley Maughon finished with 12 digs.
CROSS COUNTRY
Providence wins season opening relay
ATHENS -- Providence took first and fifth place in an Ekiden relay meet at Athens Academy on Wednesday. It was a mixed competition in which two girls and two boys run three kilometers each. The Stars' A-team finished in 45:07, one minute ahead of second place Athens Academy. James Watkins (10:10) had the best split, followed by Jonathan Duffie (120:40), Evangeline Crist (12:07) and Tayler Tuttle (12:12).
Owen Chasteen (11:02) had the fastest time on Providence's B-team, which finished in 48:12-- Complied by Jay Black
