Gwinnett Daily Post
G-Braves 3 Knights 2What happened: Peter Moylan pitched a scoreless first inning and the Gwinnett Braves followed with a three-run bottom half for the only offense they needed in the game. Stefan Gartrell hit one of two doubles in the game to score Matt Young, Wes Helms' sac fly scored Ruben Gotay and Brandon Hicks singled in Gartrell for the final run. Gartrell, Hicks and Young all had two hits on the night. Julio Teheran piggy-backed Moylan's rehab start, throwing an inconsistent five innings, allowing two runs off six hits. Jairo Asencio picked up his 21st save with a perfect ninth inning.
Early exit: Diory Hernandez played the first inning at third base before leaving the game, and the ballpark, with fatigue and dizziness.
Stat of the day: Anthony Varvaro pitched two perfect innings, making his last 3 innings scoreless after he allowed three runs in his first outing since returning from the big-league Braves' bullpen.
Pivotal moment: Wilkin Castillo made a running catch to save a third, game-tying run and make the final out of the second inning.
Web gem: Jeff Fiorentino tracked down a deep fly ball to the right side of centerfield in the third inning.
Up next: RHP Todd Redmond (9-8, 2.72 ERA) will be the early riser for the G-Braves in a 10:35 a.m. game against Charlotte's Joe Bisenius (5-1, 3.00).
