Hillyer commits to Kennesaw St.

The list of early commitments among this year's high school baseball senior class continues to grow.

Hebron Christian dual-threat Jordan Hillyer has given his verbal pledge to attend Kennesaw State beginning in the fall of 2012.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound third baseman/right-handed pitcher was a major factor in the Lions' run to the Class A state championship last spring, hitting .438 with 14 home runs, 59 RBIs, 40 runs scored and 11 stolen bases offensively and going 7-0 with a save, a county-best 0.67 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 41 innings on the mound.

Hillyer is the second Lion to commit to Kennesaw State in as many years, though recently graduated shortstop Danny Lockhart never played for the Owls after being drafted by the Chicago Cubs and entering their minor-league system this summer.

Hillyer, who was a first-team All-County selection by the Daily Post and played with Junior Team Georgia this summer, is the son of Jeff and Robin Hillyer.
