A neighborhood garage sale is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at South Gwinnett High School to raise money for the Band of Stars.
Proceeds will be used for competition entry fees, travel and uniforms.
The event is scheduled to be held in the student parking lot located off Skyland Drive.The Gwinnett Braves recently completed the team's inaugural Cancer Awareness Weekend.
The event ran from Aug. 12-14 as the team took on the Pawtucket Red Sox at Coolray Field.
The G-Braves raised a total of $11,015 for various causes in the fight against cancer.
Cancer Awareness Weekend kicked off on Aug. 12 with the "Jerseys Off our Backs" auction to benefit Gwinnett Medical Center's efforts in the name of cancer research. The players wore special pink jerseys to raise awareness for the cause.
On Aug. 13, Gwinnett Relay for Life was there to "Paint the Park Purple," wearing and decorating Coolray Field in the color.
More than 8,000 fans watched the festivities that remembered those lost in the fight against cancer.
During the game, fans bid on a collection of Gwinnett Braves autographed baseballs, which ended up raising $1,355 for the local Relay for Life initiative.The Wildcat Pride Invitational cheerleading competition is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 10 at Apalachee High School.
With more than 25 different schools competing, the event will also feature vendors and food.
Admission is $7 per person, and parking is free.
Middle school and junior varsity teams will begin at 10 a.m., and varsity and coed teams start at noon.
Apalachee High School is located at 940 Haymon Morris Road, Winder.
