The Killing Criterion Collection Blu-ray (NR)
Movie: 4 out of 4 stars
Disc: 4 out of 4 stars
More resembling his stark, European-fluenced work as a photographer from Time/Life than his latter Warner Bros. catalog; Stanley Kubrick's third feature from 1956 is one of the finest of all American film-noir movies. Sterling Hayden stars as the bull-headed leader of a less-than-stellar band of hoods whose race track heist doesn't go quite as planned. "The Killing" is an absolute must own for film students and lovers of black and white cinematography. This edition also includes Kubrick's second effort, the not-quite-as-great "Killer's Kiss."
Technical specs: aspect ratio: Widescreen (1080p/1.66:1), audio: English (PCM 1.0), subtitles: English SDH.
Special features include:
Digitally restored with uncompressed mono soundtrack
Producer, performer and writer interviews
Bonus film "Killer's Kiss"
