Lattimer hands out Mill Creek sweep

NORCROSS -- Kaitlyn Lattimer dished out 24 assists in two matches as Mill Creek swept a volleyball tri-meet at Norcross.

The Hawks beat Norcross 25-11, 22-25, 25-16 and Lanier 25-13, 25-11. Jordan Rooks added 14 digs, Kim Brody had 10 kills and Ashley Isaac added nine kills for Mill Creek (4-5).

In the same meet, Norcross beat Lanier 25-19, 25-12. On the day, the Blue Devils got 14 digs from Lindsay Holmes, nine kills from Kamilah Bakari and eight kills from Nicki White.

SOFTBALL

North Gwinnett 7, Apalachee 0

SUWANEE -- Behind 3-for-3 days from Hannah Harrison (2 RBI, 2 runs scored) and Lacey Najafi (double, triple, 3 RBIs), North Gwinnett took care of Apalachee 7-0 in the Hawk-Bulldog tournament.

Kinsley Jennings added a double and an RBI and Katie Black and Syndey O'Nill each knocked in a run for North (1-1).

Buford 5, Dacula 1

HOSCHTON -- Tessa Daniels struck out four over six innings to pick up her first win as Buford dispatched of Dacula 5-1.

Lexi Overstreet went 2-for-3 with a double a and an RBI, Daniels added an RBI, Kallie Case went 1-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and Kodi Ricketson went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Wolves (1-2).Dacula 14, Mountain View 1HOSCHTON -- Dacula rebounded from its loss to Buford by putting it on Mountain View 14-1.

Kendra Pfister picked up her first win, pitching four innings and going 2-for-2 with two RBIs at the plate. Kristan Lizarti went 3-for-4 and scored three runs, Katy Daniels went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Madison Moseley went 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Falcons.

Broncos buck Eagles, Stars

SUWANEE -- Brookwood rode five strikeouts over complete innings by Brandie Jones to edge Collins Hill 2-1 and then got out the sticks to thump Providence 13-3 in the Hawk-Bulldog Tournament.

Mandi Blackwell went 3-for-4 and Megan Litumbe was 1-for-3 in the Broncos' game with Collins Hill. The pair knocked in Brookwood's two runs.

In the second game, Rachel Hill picked up the win and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored at the plate. Katie Gouveia was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Susan Norris had three hits and Taiylor Rinehart went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and a run scored.

For the Stars, Jessie Kowalewicz was 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double, Brittany Tuttle was 1-for-2 with a triple and Katy Barry scored a run and knocked in a run.

Archer falls to Oconee, topples Jefferson

HOSCHTON -- Nani Cabrales pitched seven innings, allowed one earned run and struck out five but it wasn't enough as Archer fell to Oconee County 2-1. The but Tigers rebounded with a 13-1 thrashing of Jefferson in their second game Wednesday in the Hawk-Bulldog tournament.

Alesha Mann went 2-for-3 and Jenna Graham had a hit and an RBI in the first game.

In the second game, Madison Wyngaert pitched just four innings to earn the win, allowing three hits and striking out four. Graham was a perfect 3-for-3, Cabrales picked up two more hits including a home run, scored two runs and drove in four others.

Alliyah Williams and Sharday Smith each went 2-for-3 for Archer (6-2).

Lions sweep Jackson County, Lanier

HOSCHTON -- Maiah Johnson struck out five and allowed two earned runs over seven innings for Peachtree Ridge in a 4-3 win over Jackson County and she walked four times in the Lions' 13-5 win over Lanier in the Hawk-Bulldog tournament.

In the two-game sweep, Sarah Walker went 4-for-7, Chandler Frisbie went 4-for-8 and Sam Pierannanzi was 5-for-7.

In the offense heavy Game 2, Kayla Jones and Ashley Sawdey each added an RBI for Peachtree Ridge (5-2). Lanier's Shelby Threlkeld went 1-for-3, Meghan Kellett was 1-for-2 with a double and Siera Fackler was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Mill Creek does all but win in own tournament

HOSCHTON -- In its own tournament, the Mill Creek Hawks lost to Loganville 5-2 an then tied Ola 4-4 after neither school could break away in the extra eighth inning.

Morgan Bell was 2-for-3 with a triple and Lauren Bennett had an RBI in the Hawks' loss to Loganville. In the second game, Tori Mitchell took the loss allowing just two earned runs over eight innings and striking out two. Brittany Abbott was 2-for-3 and Jenna Holland had a triple and two RBIs for Mill Creek (1-1-1).
