Defending state champions Brookwood and Buford were ranked first in their classification in the first Associated Press prep football rankings released Tuesday.
Brookwood is No. 1 in Class AAAAA followed by Camden County and Lowndes. Grayson is fourth and Colquitt County is fifth, while North Gwinnett is eighth. Brookwood got eight of the nine first-place votes — Colquitt got the other. Collins Hill, Peachtree Ridge, Mill Creek and Norcross also received votes but didn’t crack the top 10.
