SNELLVILLE -- A Stone Mountain woman wanted for setting an apartment ablaze and endangering four children was picked up by DeKalb County authorities, Gwinnett Fire Department officials said Monday.

Mia Hamer, 46, was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail without incident Friday. She remains at the jail without bond on first-degree arson charges.

Authorities believe Hamer intentionally set her daughter's boyfriend's wardrobe ablaze Aug. 5 in a Snellville apartment crowded with people, including four children. Hamer had spoken with authorities last week and agreed to turn herself in, but never showed, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.

The incident started with a domestic dispute between Hamer and her daughter's boyfriend, who lives at the apartment. As the boyfriend was in the shower, Hamer set fire to his clothing in a bedroom closet, officials said.

Three adults and four children in the residence escaped unharmed, and the blaze was mostly out when firefighters arrived.
