LAWRENCEVILLE — An administrator with Georgia Gwinnett College has been selected for a nationally known training system aimed at sharpening leadership skills.
Jim Fatzinger, Georgia Gwinnett College’s associate vice president for student affairs, will join the American Council on Education Fellows Program for 2011-12. The ACE Fellows Program is the nation’s only individualized, long-term professional development program in higher education. During the fellowship, Fatzinger will be mentored by a president or senior administrator at another institution. The fellowship aims to teach strategic planning and leadership. The college president said Fatzinger’s inclusion in the program is an honor for the institution. “This is a highly selective program,” GGC President Daniel J. Kaufman said. “We nominated Jim for a fellowship and are very proud that he was selected. While he is already a skilled leader, we look forward to the new insights and perspectives he will bring home to GGC when he completes the program.” According to its website, hundreds of administrators, faculty and staff have participated in the ACE Fellows program since 1965. In Fatzinger’s absence, Tomas Jimenez, dean of students, will serve as acting associate vice president of student affairs.More like this story
