CALERA, ALA. -- Two men suspected of robbing a string of metro-Atlanta Waffle House restaurants including incidents in Gwinnett County were arrested Saturday after one of the men led Central Alabama police on an early-morning foot chase.
Sgt. Bill Grogan with the Norcross Police Department said law enforcement officials in Calera, Ala., responded to a Waffle House robbery at 4:15 a.m., where nobody was injured.
Officials arrested 21-year-old Edwin Mitchell and 19-year-old DeAngelo Heard, both of Ellenwood. They are being held in the Shelby County Jail in Alabama.
"We have confirmed they are the same two male suspects wanted in the metro-Atlanta Waffle House robberies," Grogan said.
Authorities said the number of Atlanta-area Waffle House robberies in the past two weeks hit 18 Friday morning, the latest being a stick-up at a Stone Mountain eatery where the gunmen fled without cash.
