NORCROSS -- Waffle House officials are offering a $2,500 reward for the arrest and conviction of two men with a penchant for robbing "Scattered, Smothered and Covered" havens across metro Atlanta.
Police believe the armed duo is behind about 17 Waffle House robberies in metro Atlanta in recent weeks, including stick-ups at two Gwinnett restaurants. Another heist was reported in Cobb County early Thursday morning.
Captured in multiple surveillance images, the duo typically place a to-go order then pull a handgun as Waffle House employees open registers. They tend to strike between 2 and 5 a.m. any day of the week.
No injuries have been reported in heists linked to the same two men in Gwinnett, Henry, DeKalb and possibly Clayton counties, along with the city of Doraville, Norcross police Sgt. Bill Grogan said.
One of the first robberies targeted a Norcross Waffle House at 5122 Brookhollow Parkway on July 31, he said.
Grogan described the suspects as black men, in their 20s or early 30s. One is taller (about 6 feet 1 inches) and thinner than his stockier partner, who stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall.
Police advise to call 911 if the suspects are spotted. Tips can be left at the Norcross police tip line, 770-448-6457.
