Robber sought in Suwanee pizza joint heist

SUWANEE -- Police are searching for a man who opened fire while robbing a Suwanee pizza restaurant this week.

Witnesses at Riverside Pizza in the 900 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard told police the gunman fired a semi-automatic handgun into a back wall while robbing the restaurant Monday. No injuries were reported.

The restaurant's general manager told police the gunman -- described as a slim white man in blue jeans and a gray sweater -- asked about a cheese pizza, then demanded the cash register be emptied as he pulled the gun. The robber fled with about $400, according to a Suwanee police report.

The robber might not have been working alone.

A couple in the drive-thru told police they witnessed another man -- white with spiky blonde hair, wearing a red T-shirt -- leave before the shot rang out, then park a red Chevy S-10 in front of a nearby Verizon store. The man who fired the bullet got in that truck, and the two headed south on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, the witnesses told police.

A woman exercising at a neighboring gym told police she saw a middle-aged white man walking briskly down the sidewalk, a gun in his right hand and a smirk on his face, the report states.

Suwanee police spokesman Capt. Clyde Beyers said Friday police are investigating the robbery but have yet to develop any suspects.
