Gwinnett Daily Post
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett could have 18 House members under a new proposal unveiled Friday.
District boundaries would take a big shift under the plan, which would increase local membership from 15 to 18. The proposal would create the first ever Spanish-speaking majority district in the Tucker/unincorporated Norcross area. Black majority districts would be created in southern Gwinnett.
In a proposed Senate district map also unveiled Friday, Gwinnett would continue to have seven senators in the General Assembly.
The maps will be up for debate Monday, during a special session on redistricting that will also set congressional and county commission boundaries.
Proposals can be found at http://www.legis.ga.gov/Joint/reapportionment/en-US/default.aspx.
