SCRANTON, Pa. -- Brandon Hicks hit his 15th home run of the season and Randall Delgado made it count finishing off a winning road trip for the Gwinnett Braves.
The recently promoted pitching prospect Delgado kept his ERA a perfect 0.00, pitching seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, walking two and striking out six at the G-Braves beat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 1-0. The win kept Gwinnett within two games of the division-leading Durham Bulls, who beat Rochester 6-0.
Catcher Will Nieves went 3-for-3, the only Gwinnett batter with multiple hits. Cory Gearrin pitched the final two innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out two for his second save of the season and of the road trip.
The G-Braves return home tonight and Duluth graduate Brian McCann will join the team on a rehab assignment.
