ATLANTA -- Calling all breast health organizations -- Susan G. Komen's Atlanta affiliate is now accepting proposals for its 2012-13 grant cycle.
Through its grants program, Komen Atlanta funds innovative breast health services that would otherwise be unavailable to women in need. Funding priorities are determined by a community needs assessment conducted every two years, a process that includes analysis of demographic and cancer rate data and qualitative interviews with breast health care providers and community leaders.
During the 2010-11 grant cycle, Komen Atlanta awarded $2.2 million in funding to grantees who provided more than 8,500 screening and diagnostic procedures. About 92 percent of women served by a Komen grant were uninsured or uninsured.
Komen Atlanta serves 10 counties in the metro area, including Gwinnett, Cherokee, Cobb, Clayton, DeKalb, Fayette, Forsyth, Henry and Rockdale.
For more information on the application process, visit www.komenatlanta.org. Applications must be mailed or delivered by 5 p.m. Nov. 4.
