SNELLVILLE -- Snellville's planning director stepped down Thursday.

City Manager Russell Treadway would not confirm that Hermit Bedi was asked to resign, but said there was an "agreed upon separation package" of two months' pay.

Treadway appointed consultant John Davis as interim planning chief and said the city will spend the next few months or so looking into its zoning ordinance and development regulations as well as the role of the planning department to consider changes.

"We've got good qualified and professional staff in the department that know their job and know it well," Treadway said. "We'll continue to operate efficiently and effectively."

A copy of Bedi's resignation letter was not immediately available late Friday afternoon.
