SUWANEE — Those looking for a fitness challenge who want to donate to a good cause can show up at 10 a.m. Aug. 27 for the fifth annual Skylar’s Run, an event that benefits Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett and Gwinnett Special Olympics.
According to a news release, the 5K and fun run is “perfect for little runners and this year we have added the Special Needs Buddy Run.”
Members of the special needs community can experience “the thrill of competing in a race.”
The Average Joes Racing Team will recruit Running Buddies that will help special needs runners around the course.
The final day to register for the run is Aug. 26. Cost is $20 per individual for the 5K and $10 per person for the Fun Run.
The event is scheduled to be held at 330 Town Center Ave. in Suwanee.
According to the news release, Skylar Gwin is a young man with muscular dystrophy. He and his dad have competed in 5K, 10K marathons and duathlon races over the past five years.
