Fresh off leading Parkview's baseball team to the Class AAAAA state championship as juniors, Matt Olson and Jack Esmonde have decided their college futures.
Both standouts chose SEC programs with Olson making a commitment to the Vanderbilt baseball program and Esmonde pledging to Georgia, where his older brother Steve played from 2007-2010.
Olson was the Daily Post's co-player of the year as a junior after hitting .426 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs. He also was walked a whopping 48 times.
The right-hander also went 8-3 with a 3.65 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 69 innings as a pitcher. He went 4-1 in the postseason as the Panthers' Game 1 starter.
Esmonde was important to Parkview because his versatility, contributing as a pitcher and outfielder. He hit .409 with 20 RBIs and also went 4-1 as a pitcher with four saves and a 2.76 ERA.
The Parkview juniors join Providence Christian's Christin Stewart, a recent commitment to Tennessee, as Gwinnett baseball players from the Class of 2012 who are bound for the SEC.
