  • Location: Homespun is located off Nelson Brogdon Boulevard. Coming from Buford Highway, it is situated on on the left after crossing over Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

  • Hours: 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturdays. Closed on Sundays.

  • Owner: Kenny So

  • Manager: Ann Cheek

  • Atmosphere: "Nothing fancy, just home spun" is the slogan for this restaurant and the atmosphere lives up to the name. Homespun has a country, home-style feel with the blue and white checkered tablecloths and linen kitchen curtains.

The walls are filled with paintings of flowers and small rooster figurines are on display. The place is covered with vintage accessories, like an antique stove, milkshake maker and an old meat grinder.

Manager Cheek said they wanted customers to feel comfortable as they would at home. "It's nothing fancy, what you see is what you get," she said. "Just country cooking."

Cheek, who has worked at Home Spun for six years, believes Homespun is the only country style cooking restaurant in the area and that people from the area really appreciate it.

  • Menu: Much of the menu is centered around country-style cooking. Each day, the kitchen caters to different entrees and vegetables. Even the sandwiches are made to mirror home-style cooking.

The favorite dish is the "Country Chicken." The chicken breast fillet is used instead of the typical drumbone and thigh, and dipped in a mixture of their house sauce.

The prices are affordable with a range from $6.80 to $7.99. If that's a little out of your price range, check out the "I don't have much money but I'm hungry" section of the menu. This portion offers a small or large bowl of pinto beans, onions, cornbread and iced tea. The small bowl is $3.95 and the large $4.95.
