"Cowboys & Aliens" is an interesting premise. If aliens do exist, who's to say they didn't make an appearance in the rugged wild, wild west? The story isn't something I had considered before (since I'm a non-alien believer and all), but it is plausible.
Good cast of actors star in "Cowboys & Aliens." Audiences have high expectations from big names such as the director Jon Favreau, producer Ron Howard, and executive producer Steven Spielberg.
Did this group deliver? Well, sort of. Will this movie be a blockbuster this summer? Ah, no, don't think so, but it was pretty good.
There won't be a shootout at the saloon anytime soon for this movie, but my movie buddy and I agree it was good entertainment on a very Hotlanta afternoon.

Westerns are fascinating and simplistic stories that draw the audience's attention to the details and beauty of the scenes. When we add aliens -- who kidnap humans for experiments, creating havoc among the inhabitants of a slowly dying mining town -- we have a formula for a successful summer blockbuster.
I totally enjoyed being a voyeur in this reverse back to the future love/war/"Independence Day" story with 13 from "House" (Olivia Wilde), Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig. This might be the best summer movie this year.

I really wanted to like this movie. I am a sci-fi fan and I thought the concept sounded original and inventive. Aliens attacking during the wild, wild west? Why not?
Unfortunately, the story did not live up to my expectations. The western part started off interesting enough, but once the aliens came on the scene, the story fell flat.
There was nothing new and the "surprises" were easy to figure out. The characters needed more development. The special effects were good, but there was nothing that needed to be seen on the big screen. In my opinion, you can wait for the DVD.
