ATLANTA — Greater Atlanta Christian’s Caroline Bond set the all-time mark in the girls pole vault on Saturday at the Region 6-AA track and field meet at Westminster.
Bond cleared 12 feet, 53⁄4 inches to win the region crown. She was one of three state qualifiers for the Spartans. Danielle Moss won the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 2 inches and Kayin Mujahid was second in the triple jump with a distance of 35-7.
GAC is in first place with 57 points in the two-day meet, which resumes on Monday at Westminster. The top two athletes in each event qualify for the state meet in Albany on May 12-14.
Wesleyan 1, Hebron 0
NORCROSS — Joshua Dobbs had the game-winning RBI hit in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Wesleyan a 1-0 win over Hebron on Saturday.
Jeremy Shirley was the winning pitcher, going five innings and allowing six hits and striking out three. Sheldon Connor picked up the save, going two innings and allowing no hits and one strikeout for the Wolves (19-7).
Mason Felt got the loss for Hebron, going three and striking out six and allowing two hits. Kevin Burgee went two innings and had three strikeouts.
