Local St. Pius students to play college sports

Nine Gwinnett area residents who attend St. Pius have signed with college athletic programs, including four soccer players.

Three St. Pius girls players have pledged to colleges — Sugar Hill’s Elizabeth Kinsel to Georgia State, Lilburn’s Andrea Papania to the University of Dallas and Lilburn’s Grace Raines to The Citadel — while Golden Lions boys player Andrew Wolverton of Snellville has signed with Penn State.

Hoschton’s Hunter MacKay (College of Mount Saint Joseph) and Lawrenceville’s Selwyn Mallah (Centre College) have committed to football programs, while Stone Mountain’s Shelby Ashe (Harvard) and Norcross’ Nick Miller (Alabama-Huntsville) have signed in track and field. Duluth’s Brendan Hoban will run cross country for Georgia).
