NORCROSS — Spencer Neely’s bases loaded walk gave Norcross the go-ahead run in the Blue Devils’ 8-6 win over Collins Hill on Monday.
Norcross (13-11) scored five runs in the fifth inning to pull ahead. Adam Greenstein was 3-for-3 with two runs, Tanner Maloof went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, William Paschal was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Kevin Cosola was 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Wayne Wages led Collins Hill (10-14, 7-9) by going 2-for-4 and Brandon McKeen was 2-for-3. BASEBALL Peachtree Ridge 10, Mountain View 0 LAWRENCEVILLE — Preston Johnson threw a complete game, striking out six as Peachtree Ridge defeated Mountain View 10-0 on Monday. Johnson struck out four and walked one. He was 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate. Billy Best led the Lions (12-12, 8-8), going 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Donald Frew was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and Jared Walsh was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three walks. Tyler Chaney, Cooper Burdick and Tyler Harswell each had a hit. Jernard Mosley led Mountain View with two hits, while Alex Brock, Tyler Bethune, Ben Utley and Forrest Girardeau each had a hit. Shiloh 9, Grayson 6 SNELLVILLE — Joshua Nance struck out six in a compete game to lead Shiloh to a 9-6 win over Grayson on Monday. Nance also had a home run at the plate, while Michael Houchin hit a three-run double in the sixth to give the Generals the lead. Dacula 12, Berkmar 2 LILBURN — Brandyn Bartlett improved his pitching record to 6-1 after Dacula defeated Berkmar 12-2 on Monday. Bartlett went four innings, striking out three and allowing two runs off five hits. Morgan Loyd led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance, while Blake Zierten and Seven Williams were 1-for-2 with an RBI. Jared Martin and Josh Bullock each went 1-for-1 for the Falcons (15-10, 10-5). GIRLS LACROSSE Duluth 13, Norcross 3 NORCROSS — Ali Cole scored six goals to lead Duluth past Norcross 13-3 on Monday. Ajahna Grosvenor had three goals and Miyu Etori scored her first career goal, while adding five ground balls for the Wildcats (7-6-1). Jamie Carlson led Norcross with 20 groundballs, Laura Klaren had two goals and Lauren Garmin scored once. Lambert 21, Wesleyan 15 SUWANEE — Caroline Jordan and Courtney Bachelor each had four goals in Wesleyan’s 21-15 loss to Lamberton Monday. Natalie Genthert added three goals for the Wolves (8-7-1). BOYS LACROSSE Grayson 7, Collins Hill 4 LOGANVILLE — Tyler Fitch and Thatcher Smith each had two goals in Grayson’s 7-4 win over Collins Hill on Monday. Ben Mertz added one goal and one assist and goalkeeper Josh Parris made 13 saves for the Rams (9-8). BOYS TENNIS GAC 5, Armuchee 0 ROME — Greater Atlanta Christian swept Armuchee 5-0 in the second round of the Class AA state playoffs on Monday. The Spartans (10-8) got wins from David Burdett, Chase Roberts and Daniel Ray in singles action. Jake Montgomery and Alex Soh won at No. 1 doubles and Jared Metzger and Joshua Mitchell at No. 2 doubles. Wesleyan 3, Walker 1 MARIETTA — Brothers Norman and Jeffrey Chang won at No. 1 and 2 singles respectively to help lift the Wolves past the Wolverines on Monday at Walker in a Class A state second-round match. The No. 2 doubles team of Andrew Dorman and Zach Taylor were also victorious for Wesleyan will travel to either Whitefield Academy or Athens Academy for the quarterfinals. GIRLS TENNIS Norcross 3, Brookwood 1 SNELLVILLE — Norcross advanced to the Elite Eight with a 3-1 victory over Brookwood in the second round of the Class AAAAA playoffs on Monday. The Blue Devils got wins from Cameron Williams at No. 1 singles and Vooha Vellanki at No. 3 singles. Cameryn Massey and Stacy Lackey won at No. 1 doubles for the Blue Devils (15-5). — From staff reports To report scores, call 770-339-5850.
