Gwinnett Daily Post
DACULA — Dacula residents in want of planning and zoning news, neighborhood happenings and opinions on local restaurants have an updated depot for that information at their fingertips.
Dacula recently launched a sleeker city website — which can be found at www.DaculaGa.gov — as a means to combat registration problems some Web surfers were experiencing with the city’s previous site. Jim Wilbanks, Dacula mayor, called the site a vehicle for participation in city government. Blog forums have been activated for several topics, including a post about the history of Dacula’s 1905 founding and how the city’s name is a mishmash of the words “Atlanta” and “Decatur.” The site also features Dacula weather updates and community forums on topics as varied as restaurant reviews and DUI arrests. Wilbanks said the site is designed to be moderated, and users and posts will be verified. “I hope (residents) will take advantage of this site to stay informed,” Wilbanks said in a launch announcement.More like this story
