MONROE — The Hebron Lions (21-2, 16-1 in Region 8-A) had their 20-game winning streak snapped Thursday at George Walton Academy despite a strong start from pitcher Mason Felt (6-1).

Felt went the distance and gave up five hits and three runs with nine strikeouts for Hebron in its narrow 4-3 loss.

Danny Lockhart also went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the loss, while Brady Shoppe was 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

Benji Cash also added a solo homer.

BASEBALL

Buford 5, Decatur 2

BUFORD — Josh Heddinger (5-0) struck out eight over seven innings, allowing two runs to lead Buford to a 5-2 win over Decatur.

Heddinger also knocked in a run, while Tyler White (2-for-3) had two RBIs and Taylor Harter (1-for-2) scored a pair of runs for the Wolves (18-3, 12-1).

GAC 4, Lovett 2

ATLANTA — GAC needed just three hits to win a tight game against Lovett 4-2.

Patrick Stone allowed just two runs off two hits over seven innings, striking out six to get the win for the Spartans (15-8, 8-5). Ross Wood had a two-RBI single and Chase Markham knocked in another run for GAC.

GIRLS LACROSSE

North Gwinnett 16, Grayson 5

SUGAR HILL — Ashleigh Clark scored seven goals and added an assist and three groundballs as the Bulldogs (7-8, 3-3) posted the Area 4-AAAAA win over the Rams 16-5 on Thursday at Gary Pirkle Park.

Katie Verret added three goals, four draw controls and six groundballs, Lauren Aycock, scored three goals with five groundballs, Sylvia Chou had a goal and four groundballs, Jordyn Burrow added a goal and three groundballs and Kylee Thurman finished with a goal and an assist.

North goalkeeper Mehndi Patel made 14 saves.

Peachtree Ridge 8, Collins Hill 7

SUWANEE — Rachel Harper and Michelle Fortier each scored three goals to lead Peachtree Ridge to a 8-7 win over Collins Hill.

Kayla Jones added a goal and two assists and goalie Erin Palanza had 11 saves.

BOYS LACROSSE

Peachtree Ridge 9, Collins Hill 5

SUWANEE — Cory Hall led the Lions with three goals and two assists as Peachtree Ridge downed Collins Hill 9-5.

Tyler Fortier scored three goals and Michael Ruffcorn scored two. Tanner Botts scored a goal and added an assist and Gus Johnson and Trevor Lee each had an assist.
