LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Braves and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to host a Family Fun Run 5K on May 14 at Coolray Field.
The 5K course will begin in the parking lot of the Gwinnett Braves field and finish on the Coolray Field playing surface. All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.
"This is a great opportunity for Gwinnett County families to come out and have fun while raising awareness and funds for a great cause -- fighting cancer," said Bill Manson, the Cancer Society's area executive director for Gwinnett and Hall counties. "We are very grateful to the Gwinnett Braves for partnering with us for this event."
Registration begins at 7 a.m. May 14 for the 8 a.m. 5K race. A one-mile run will start at 8:10 a.m. The cost to participate is $30 per runner, with a discount to $20 a runner for running clubs. Entire families can participate with one $30 registration fee.
Registration for the run, which includes game tickets, is available through May 12 at www.active.com.
"We are pleased to be working with the American Cancer Society to host the family fun run and to help advance the fight against cancer in Gwinnett County," said North Johnson, general manager of the Gwinnett Braves. "We urge everyone to come out and join us on May 14 and have a wonderful time while literally taking steps against cancer."
