NORCROSS — Farm fresh fruit and vegetables are coming soon to downtown Norcross.
The 2011 farmer’s market season opens at 4 p.m. May 17 with more than 35 producers ready to sell treats. Many of last year’s favorite vendors are back, said Norcross spokeswoman Tixie Fowler, poised to bring fresh breads, baked goods, granola and yogurt. New products will include organic popcorn and gluten-free popsicles. Nine farmers have signed up to sell lettuces, herbs and other vegetables, and some “organic craftsmen” will sell unique wares. During the market, leaders have also arranged for live music, kids activities and lessons such as rain-barrel making, composting tips and chef demonstrations. The market will run through the middle of October at Thrasher Park. For more information, go to www.whistlestopfarmersmarket.com.More like this story
