SUGAR HILL — Peachtree Ridge defeated Greater Atlanta Christian 17-9 on Thursday at the Gwinnett County tournament at Gary Pirkle Park.
Tanner Botts had five goals and one assist to lead the Lions (10-2). Michael Ruffcorn had four goals and one assist, Cory Hall had three goals and one assist, and Steven Lee had two goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Greg Rose made 14 saves.
Gunner Cate led the Spartans (7-6) with three goals, Scotty Smith had two goals and two assists, and Jake Neill had 12 ground balls.
Mill Creek 13, North Gwinnett 7
SUGAR HILL — Chase Welch and Dylan Stanley each had three goals in Mill Creek’s 13-7 win over North Gwinnett on Thursday in the Gwinnett County tournament at Gary Pirkle Park.
Nick Kozlowski added two goals and two assists for the Hawks (5-5). Ronnie Adams had three goals and one assist for North (5-6) and Tyler Ortolano had one goal and two assists.
Grayson 5, Collins Hill 3
SUGAR HILL — Ben Mertz scored three goals and had one assist in Grayson’s 5-3 win over Collins Hill in the Gwinnett County tournament at Gary Pirkle Park on Thursday.
Zach Drikse added one goal and three assists for the Eagles (8-5) and goalkeeper Josh Parris made 11 saves.
Peachtree Ridge 15, Parkview 9
SUWANEE — Michelle Fortier scored six and Rachel Harper had five to lead Peachtree Ridge to a 15-9 win over Parkview on Thursday. The duo each had an assist for the Lions (8-6-1, 4-1)
Juliet Tang had four goals for Parkview (3-11).
Duluth 9, Grayson 9
DULUTH — Ali Cole scored five goals in Duluth’s 9-9 tie with Grayson on Thursday. Ajahna Grosvenor added three goals for the Wildcats (6-5-1) and Noah Holt had one goal and one assist.
Providence 17, Pace 3
ATLANTA — Patrick Smith struck out five batters and got plenty of run support in Providence’s 17-3 win over Pace Academy on Thursday.
Smith went five innings, allowing three runs and no walks for the Stars (14-7, 10-1). Cristan Stewart sparked the offense with a home run and two RBIs, while going 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Austin Smith went 4-for-5 with two runs, Steven Slaughter went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs and Charlie Scott was 1-for-1 with a double, two RBIs and a run.
GAC 9, Tucker 4
TUCKER — Hayden Melson picked up the win and Zach Feuerbach got the save in Greater Atlanta Christian’s 9-4 win over Tucker on Thursday.
Providence 5, Towns County 0
LILBURN — Providence’s girls tennis team defeated visiting Towns County 5-0 Thursday in a play-in match for the Class A state tournament. The Stars (15-5) advance to play Aquinas in the next round.
Dani Crist, Christy North and Madison DeMoss swept the singles points, while Providence got doubles wins from Emma Crist and Robin Ferris at No. 1 and Alex Schlesener and Abby Mazza at No. 2.
Providence 4, Fellowship 1
LILBURN — Providence clinched a berth in the state tournament with a 4-1 win over Fellowship on Thursday, avenging its only area loss of the season.
The Stars’ (13-4, 10-1) Taylor Henry scored on a free kick and Caleb McQuaig followed with goal after an assist from Matt McGlamery. Ryan Mozzone scored on a throw-in from Brent Hansen and Hansen later added a goal off an assist from McGlamery.
Pinecrest 2, Hebron 1
DACULA — Hebron couldn’t overcome a 2-0 halftime deficit and lost to Pinecrest 2-1 on Thursday. Ryan Oduro scored the lone goals for the Lions (11-3-2).
Fellowship 6, Providence 0
LILBURN — Providence lost to Fellowship 6-0 on Thursday.
Shiloh edges South by two
SNELLVILLE — Shiloh’s Jason Tarpley was the low medalist, shooting a 42 in the Generals’ 193-195 victory over South Gwinnett at the Country Club of Gwinnett on Thursday.
Matt Cryan shot a 46 for Shiloh, while Kevin Geary led the Comets with a 47.
Norcross wins three-way
DACULA — Norcross shot a 156 at the Trophy Club of Apalachee on Thursday to beat Mountain View (167) and Hebron (187).
Buford beats Jefferson
JEFFERSON — Logan Nance shot a 38 to lead Buford to a 163-177 win over Jefferson at Double Oaks golf course on Thursday.
Hebron cruises to win
DACULA — Hebron shot an 82 on Wednesday at the Trophy Club of Apalachee to easily beat Mountain View (103) and Norcross (104). The Lions’ Darby Gentry shot a 38 and Amber Sliger carded a 44.
Wolves top Dragons
BUFORD — Bailey Burnette shot a 42 to lead Buford past Jefferson 86-93 on Thursday at Double Oaks golf course.
