DACULA -- Collins Hill's boys tennis team will face Peachtree Ridge for the Region 7-AAAAA title today at 9 a.m. after both teams won their semifinal matches Wednesday.
The Eagles (15-3) avenged a regular-season loss to North Gwinnett, beating the Bulldogs 3-0 in the semis after a quarterfinal win earlier in the day over Mountain View, also by a 3-0 score.
Collins Hill got singles points from Chris Clark and Tyler Kallgren in both the North and Mountain View victories, while the doubles team of Alec Rahmanian and Jake Inderrieden also scored a point in each victory.
Peachtree Ridge defeated Meadowcreek 5-0 and Mill Creek 3-0 on Wednesday to reach today's Region 7-AAAAA final.
The Lions (9-2 overall, 8-1 in region) got wins from singles players Alex Makarenko, Brock Beisel and Chandler Burchfield. The No. 1 doubles team Yan Karpo and Jacob Kurkler won and the No. 2 doubles team of Chris Copeland and Jashith Choppara.
Makarenko and Beisel won singles matches against Peachtree Ridge and Karpo and Kukler at No. 1 doubles.
BOYS TENNIS
* Mill Creek 3, Duluth 1
HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek held off Duluth 3-1 on Wednesday in the Region 7-AAAAA tournament to earn a trip to the state tournament.
The Hawks (7-11) swept the doubles matches. Tucker Fleming and Josh Mellott won at No. 1 doubles, while Travis Hanes and Zach Martinez won at No. 2. Brad Adkins won the No. 3 singles match.
Mill Creek will play North Gwinnett for the No. 3 seed in Region 7-AAAAA today at 9 a.m.
* Dacula 3, Central 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Dacula won the third-place game in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament by beating Central Gwinnett 3-1 Wednesday at Rhodes Jordan Park.
Matt Nelson and Caleb Barth won singles matches for the Falcons (11-8). Joel Salazar and David Anderson won the No. 1 doubles match.
Dacula and Central both advance to the Class AAAAA tournament next week.
* Pace 3, Wesleyan 2
ATLANTA -- Wesleyan lost to Pace Academy 3-2 in the Region 5-A final Wednesday.
The Wolves (12-6) will be the No. 2 seed from Region 5 when the state tournament starts next week. Norman and Jeffrey Chang won their singles matches for Wesleyan.
* Athens Academy 3, Hebron 1
ATHENS -- Hebron finished runner-up in Region 8-A for the second year in a row after losing to Athens Academy 3-1 on Wednesday.
The Lions (10-2) got their lone point from the No. 2 doubles team of Jack Griffin and Paul Stinespring.
GIRLS TENNIS
* Wesleyan 3, Providence 0
ATLANTA -- Wesleyan shut out Providence 3-0 to capture third place in the Region 5-A tournament Wednesday.
Julie Rodriguez and Sally Robertson won at No. 1 singles for the Wolves (10-8). Amanda Smay and Katie Van Leake took care of the No. 2 doubles match. Sarah Settlage won the No. 3 singles match.
Wesleyan hosts Georgia Military College today at 4 p.m. in the first round of the state tournament.
BASEBALL
* Peachtree Ridge 4, Norcross 2
SUWANEE -- Preston Johnson gave up one run in six innings as Peachtree Ridge beat Norcross 4-2 on Wednesday.
Johnson (3-4) allowed six hits to get the win. Donald Frew gave up one run in the seventh, but picked up his first save of the year.
Billy Best went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lions (11-9, 7-5). Jared Walsh, Brett Polachek and Cooper Burdick drove in the other runs.
* North 3, Mill Creek 1
SUWANEE -- Michael Gustafson pitched a complete game as North Gwinnett beat Mill Creek 3-1 on Wednesday.
Gustafson (1-4) allowed seven hits and struck out four.
Seth Bancroft broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with a two-run double. He went 2-for-3 with two doubles for the Bulldogs (10-10, 5-7). Alex Kimble drove in Bancroft with a single in the first inning. Kenny Knudsen was 2-for-3.
* Mountain View 4, Collins Hill 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Freshman A.J. Moore allowed one run in six innings to lead Mountain View to a 4-1 win over Collins Hill on Wednesday.
Moore struck out two and gave up seven hits for the Bears (9-11, 3-9). Tyler Bethune earned the save. Bethune and Alex Brock each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Peyton Fore added two hits and a stolen base.
Jimmy Shea led the Eagles (9-9, 6-6) with two hits.
* Grayson 12, Dacula 2
DACULA -- Taylor Allum drove in three runs and pitched a complete game as Grayson beat Dacula 12-2 on Wednesday in five innings.
Allum went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Rams (12-8, 5-5). He also struck out six on the mound to improve his record to 3-2. Austin Meadows was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Kyle Streicher was also 3-for-4.
Brandyn Bartlett (4-1) was the losing pitcher. He gave up six unearned runs in two innings. Tripp Calhoun and Michael Barnes each had an RBI for the Falcons (9-10, 5-5).
* Brookwood 11, Shiloh 1
SNELLVILLE -- Jacob Beauchamp pitched a complete game and struck out 10 hitters as Brookwood beat Shiloh 11-1 in five innings Wednesday.
Beauchamp (4-0) allowed two hits and an earned run. Tremayne Torrie went 3-for-3 with a double for the Broncos (14-5, 8-2). Lucas Sims was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles.
* Central 16, Berkmar 0
LILBURN -- Dustin Hays pitched a no-hitter to lead Central Gwinnett to a 16-0 win over Berkmar in five innings Wednesday.
Hays struck out eight batters in the win. Josh Davis and Luis Valdes each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Black Knights (11-9, 4-6). Cody De La Paz had a double and three runs scored.
* South 15, Archer 3
SNELLVILLE -- Jordan Ramey and Kent Rollins each hit a homer in South Gwinnett's 15-3 five-inning win over Archer on Wednesday.
Ramey was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Rollins went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Comets (12-7, 8-2). Ryan McDowell, Jake Hauser, Austin Williams and Zack Bogardts each had two hits.
Ramey (2-0) was also the winning pitcher. He allowed one earned run and struck out seven in five innings.
* Buford 15, Maynard Jackson 0
BUFORD -- Buford hammered Maynard Jackson 15-0 in three innings Wednesday.
Austin Upshaw (1-0) pitched all three innings and struck out seven to get the win. Kayden Berrett went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Wolves (16-2, 10-0). Josh Bryan drove in two runs, while Leo Narrison drove in one.
* Westminster 13, GAC 2
NORCROSS -- Westminster beat GAC 13-2 in five innings Wednesday. Ross Wood went 2-for-2 and drove in both runs for the Spartans (11-7, 5-4).
* Oconee Co. 12, Lanier 2
SUGAR HILL -- Lanier lost to Oconee County 12-2 on Wednesday. Kam Doster was 2-for-3 for the Longhorns (2-17, 2-16). Stephen Rusch went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
BOYS GOLF
* Parkview squeaks by Dacula
SNELLVILLE -- Parkview defeated Dacula 165-167 on Wednesday at Summit Chase Country Club. Drew Echard shot a 39 for the Panthers (6-1). Ted Moon added a 41. Alex Fraser led the Falcons with a 39, while Brad Stevens shot a 41.
* Rajek's 35 leads Eagles
MONROE -- Collins Hill's Chris Rajek shot an even par round to lead Collins Hill to a 155-165 win over Apalachee on Wednesday at Providence Golf Course. Rajek shot 35 for the Eagles, while Mark Murphy added a 38.
* Mill Creek knocks off North
DACULA -- Mill Creek beat North Gwinnett 163-185 on Wednesday at Hamilton Mill Golf Club. Brian Kim shot a 39 to lead the Hawks.
GIRLS GOLF
* Collins Hill beats Apalachee
MONROE -- Collins Hill took care of Apalachee 83-97 on Wednesday at Providence Golf Course. Lauren Court shot a 40 to lead the Eagles. Ellen Min added a 43.
* Parkview edges Dacula
SNELLVILLE -- Parkview held off Dacula 91-96 at Summit Chase Country Club on Wednesday. Leah Chandley fired a 44 to lead the Panthers (3-2). Cady Clark shot a 46 for Dacula.
* Mill Creek tops North
DACULA -- Mill Creek defeated North Gwinnett 79-99 on Wednesday at Hamilton Mill Golf Club. Katie Plummer shot a 39 for the Hawks.
GIRLS SOCCER
* Archer 3, Lanier 0
SUGAR HILL -- Rachael Pfeiffer made seven saves in Archer's 3-0 shutout of Lanier on Wednesday.
Shelby Pallone, Caroline Johnson and Megan Wilson each scored a goal for the Tigers (6-4-2).
BOYS SOCCER
* Westminster 4, Buford 0
ATLANTA -- Buford lost to Westminster 4-0 on Wednesday. The Wolves fall to 8-5-2 overall and 2-3 in the region.
GIRLS LACROSSE
* Mill Creek 16, Norcross 2
HOSCHTON -- Kelly Skoglund and Alexis Ordini each scored five goals as Mill Creek beat Norcross 16-2 on Wednesday. Mackenzie Fagioli added three goals for the Hawks (11-2). Clara Hong, Tori Windom and Tyler Rediger each scored once.
* Collins Hill 14, North 10
SUWANEE -- Collins Hill beat North Gwinnett 14-10 on Wednesday. Ashleigh Clark scored seven goals in the loss for the Bulldogs (5-8). Sylvia Chou scored twice, while Kylee Thurman had the other goal. Mehndi Patel made 20 saves.
BOYS LACROSSE
* North 11, Centennial 10
ROSWELL -- Ronnie Adams and Adam Printz each scored three goals to lead North Gwinnett to an 11-10 win over Centennial on Wednesday. Adams and Printz also had one assist each for the Bulldogs (5-5). Tyler Ortolano added three assists.
* Centennial 8, Norcross 6
ROSWELL -- Norcross lost to Centennial 8-6 on Tuesday. Charlie Rhea scored three goals. Scott Foster added two, while Cam Coval scored once. Davis Diamond had three assists.
