Man hospitalized after hotel fire

NORCROSS -- A man was hospitalized Tuesday night after breathing smoke during a small kitchen fire in a hotel near Norcross, officials said.

The 8:40 p.m. fire at the All Around Suites Hotel at 3175 Medlock Bridge Road was traced to a stove and microwave area in the kitchenette of a second-floor room. Firefighters brought the small fire under control in about seven minutes, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.

Firefighters found the man inside the smoke-filled room, conscious but groggy. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Duluth with injuries that weren't believed to be life-threatening, Rutledge said.

The fire cause minor damage to one room. An exact cause is under investigation, Rutledge said.
