Davis Vision provides free eye care for kids

LAWRENCEVILLE — Many uninsured or underinsured Georgia children and teens do not have access to vision care, which is vital for reading and success in school.

That was not the case for more than 200 local children who recently received free vision screenings at the Norcross and Lawrenceville branch locations of the Gwinnett County Public Library. Sixty percent of the children required further vision services and will receive a free eye exam and eyeglasses, if needed, from their local Visionworks store.

Davis Vision’s Focus on America program is a nationwide community outreach initiative that provides free vision care to children who have little or no vision insurance. The recent events in Gwinnett were held in cooperation with Prevent Blindness Georgia and Davis Vision’s sister company, Visionworks.
