HOSCHTON — One Mill Creek High School student who was airlifted from the scene of a bus crash remained hospitalized Tuesday, said Jorge Quintana, spokesman for Gwinnett County Public Schools.
Quintana said federal health privacy laws prevented him from releasing any further information. A charter bus carrying 52 people, 47 of whom are students, was returning Sunday from a choral competition at Walt Disney World. The bus was traveling north on Interstate 75 in Dooly County when two other vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision, according to the Georgia State Patrol. One of the vehicles was pushed into the path of the bus, and the driver swerved to avoid a crash. The bus ended up going up an embankment and hitting an overpass. Of the 52 people on the bus, 20 were taken to three different hospitals in the Macon area. Seventeen of those were students, and 16 of them have been released.More like this story
