SUGAR HILL — Lanier defeated Johnson 6-3 Friday night in Region 8-AAA, giving the Longhorns their first win at home in their history.
Kameron Doster pitched a complete game for the win, giving up three runs with seven strikeouts.
The offense was led by T.J. Richardson, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Austin Wood added a double with three RBIs, while Trenton Little was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Walter Gropp and Taylor Grant each went 1-for-3 for Lanier (2-15, 2-14).
Duluth 10, Collins Hill 8
SUWANEE — Duluth’s John Clark delivered a two-run single in the top of the 10th as the Wildcats held on for a 10-8 win over Collins Hill on Friday night in Region 7-AAAAA.
Clark finished with three hits and also picked up the win with five innings of work in relief, striking out four with three hits and no earned runs.
Edward Willemse added two hits and three RBIs for Duluth (12-6, 7-5), while Noah Hoback added two hits and an RBI. Jacob Timmie added two hits for the Wildcats.
Collins Hill had two players go 3-for-5 in Jimmy Shea and Charlie Padilla, while Nate Williams, Brandon McKeen and Blake Pulliam each went 2-for-4. Morgan Ownbey started for the Eagles and went five innings in getting a no decision, allowing six runs on eight hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
Peachtree Ridge 7, Mill Creek 6
SUWANEE — Mill Creek built a 6-0 lead Friday night against Peachtree Ridge, but couldn’t hang on to it as the Lions (12-8, 6-4) battled back for a 7-6 win in Region 7-AAAAA.
Jared Walsh, who finished 2-for-3 with five RBIs, sparked the comeback with a grand slam in the third inning. Tripp Miller also reached base three times with two walks and a single while driving in a run, while Steven Bowman and Cooper Burdick each had a hit.
Drew Coffey (2-0) picked up the win with 31⁄3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit with two strikeouts, while Walsh recorded his first save of the year.
North 7, Norcross 4
NORCROSS — North Gwinnett trailed Norcross 3-0 after four innings, but rallied with four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to top the Blue Devils 7-4 in Region 7-AAAAA on Friday night.
Seth Bancroft went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the fifth inning. Connor Jenkins also had a good day with the bat with three RBIs, including a two-run triple in the sixth.
Cole Willoughby added an RBI double for North (8-9, 4-6), while Alex Kimble and Adrian Stewart each had a triple. Winning pitcher was Brandon White (2-1), who allowed four runs (three earned) in seven innings on six hits with three strikeouts.
Brookwood 9, Archer 0
LAWRENCEVILLE — Trey Martin of Brookwood went 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run home run on Friday to lead the Broncos 9-0 over Archer in Region 8-AAAAA.
Trey Hagey, Zach Rinehart and Brian McGrath each added two hits as the Broncos improved to 12-5 overall and 5-2 in the region. Alan Tokarz went four scoreless innings for the win, striking out three with one hit.
Shiloh 4, Central 0
LAWRENCEVILLE — Two Shiloh pitchers combined for a shutout Friday night as the Generals topped Central Gwinnett 4-0 in Region 8-AAAAA.
Kevin Farrow started and earned the win, going 61⁄3 innings, while Joshua Nance recorded the final two outs.
Grayson 11, Berkmar 0
LOGANVILLE — Three Grayson pitchers combined for a no-hitter on Friday as the Rams blanked Berkmar 11-0 in five innings in Region 8-AAAAA.
Austin Meadows (3-1) started and went three innings with five strikeouts, while Chris Erwin and Blake Tignor each pitched a hitless inning.
Josh Carlsen led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, while Kyle Streicher added a solo homer. Mike McHugh finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Carter Collins had two hits. Grayson improved to 11-7 overall and 4-4 in the region.
GAC 15, Druid Hills 0
ATLANTA — Greater Atlanta Christian scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to pull away for a 15-0 win over Druid Hills on Friday night.
Eric Smotherman (3-0) both hit and pitched his way for the win, allowing four hits in six innings work on the mound, while going 2-for-2 with three RBIs at the plate.
Other offensive contributors for the Spartans (9-5) were Patrick Schultz (3-for-5, two runs), Robby McPherson (3-for-4, double, two runs) and Ross Wood (two doubles).
Hebron 23, Athens Academy 3
ATHENS — Hebron belted seven home runs Friday night as the Lions pounded Athens Academy 23-3 in five innings in Region 8-A.
Three Lions hit two homers each in Danny Lockhart (four hits, four RBIs), Jordan Hillyer (three hits, three RBIs) and Seth Gower (five RBIs). Benji Cash also homered and doubled and drove in two.
Mason Felt recorded the win to improve his record to 6-0, while the team record upped to 17-1 overall and 12-0 in the region.
Peachtree Ridge 4, Marist 1
SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge improved to 12-2 Friday night with a 4-1 over Marist in a non-region match.
Jeremy Rector led the Lions with two goals, while Chris Cook and Branden Green each scored one. Mitch Kupstas and Daryl Sack split time at keeper for the win.
Providence 3, Parkview 1
LILBURN — Providence trailed Parkview 1-0 at the half but scored three times in the second half to post a 3-1 win over the Panthers in a non-region battle.
Ted Perry scored the first goal for the Stars off a corner kick, while Will Lowndes provided the second goal. The final goal came from Caleb McQuaig, while Matt McGlamery played a strong game at center back. Providence, ranked No. 1 in Class A, improved to 11-3.
Wesleyan 4, Whitfield 3
NORCROSS — Garrett Bush of Wesleyan scored two goals in the game’s final nine minutes Friday night to lift the Wolves 4-3 over Whitefield Academy.
Cole Warren added a goal off an assist from keeper Eric Sunderman off a long drop kick, while Cort Coxhead scored off a feed from Sam Straker. Sam Brehmer also helped by assisting both of Bush’s goals. Wesleyan improved to 9-6.
Wesleyan 5, Whitefield 0
NORCROSS — Susanna Newman had two goals and an assist on Friday in leading Wesleyan 5-0 over Whitefield Academy.
Katie Williams also had a goal and an assist, while Grace Hodges and Darby Coxhead each scored a goal. Assist leaders for the Wolves (8-5-1) Kenzie Stanford with two and Shannon Felts with one, while Hannah Duane and Beth Horner shared time at keeper for the shutout.
Walton 18, Wesleyan 4
MARIETTA — Wesleyan’s record evened at 6-6 on Friday as the Wolves fell 18-4 to Walton.
Harrison Cheeley scored three goals for Wesleyan, while Connor Breslin scored one.
Blair’s one-under leads Wesleyan
JOHNS CREEK — Taylor Blair carded a one-under 26 on Thursday afternoon as Wesleyan defeated Pace Academy 61 to 74 at River Pines Par 3 course.
