NORCROSS — A 20-year-old man died Thursday, after pulling a gun on a Gwinnett police officer.
Daryl Fuller was one of three men walking in the center turn lane on Singleton Road in unincorporated Norcross when three members of the Gwinnett County Police Department Gangs Unit were patrolling the area about 9 p.m. Thursday, Cpl. Edwin Ritter said. The officers turned their vehicle around to approach the men, who they considered suspicious, Ritter said in a press release. The officers identified themselves as police and ordered the suspect to drop his weapon, the release said, but instead the suspect ran onto the sidewalk then turn and pointed his gun at the officers. According to the account, an officer fired one shot, hitting Fuller in the head. The man was transported to the hospital, where he died. The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, a standard in officer-involved shootings. Police are seeking the two men who had been walking with Fuller as possible witnesses.More like this story
