GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Gwinnett Gladiators capped their 2010-11 season with a 7-2 road loss to conference-leading Greenville on Saturday.

Shane Harper scored twice to give him five goals in the past three games against the Gladiators, who missed the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Tim Filangieri scored both of the Gladiators goals, doubling his season total with the first multi-goal game of his career.

Harper had the only goal of the first, cutting to the middle on the power play and beating Chris Carrozzi high blocker side from close in at 10:42.

Greenville broke the game open in the second, racing to a 5-0 lead.

Filangieri managed to snap a shot over the glove of Nic Riopel for just his second goal as a pro at 16:50 to break up the shutout.

Kyle Kucharski and Justin Milo had the assists.

Down 5-1 heading into the third, the Gladiators refused to quit and Filangieri scored his second goal of the game at 10:01 to cut the deficit to three, sliding the puck past Riopel on the near post. Ian McKenzie added an assist, but that’s as close as Gwinnett got.

Carrozzi gave up five goals on 21 shots before being pulled after the fifth goal. Garrett Zemlak went the rest of the way for the Gladiators stopping seven of nine shots.
