Prep Rally to spotlight Wolves’ Karempelis

Gwinnett Prep Rally, the county’s high school sports TV program, airs football highlights from Mill Creek-Norcross and Shiloh-Dacula on this week’s show. Featured athletes include Wesleyan’s Kyle Karempelis, Mill Creek’s Devonte Lewis and Norcross’ Kendrix Huitt and John McWilliams. The Gwinnett Greats feature takes a look back at a classic Parkview vs. Brookwood matchup from 2000.

Atlanta Xplosion hires new head football coach

The Atlanta Xplosion women’s football team has hired Brian Montgomery as its new head coach. Montgomery is currently the head coach at North Atlanta.

The Xplosion plays in the Independent Women’s Football League, where it went 7-2 last season and made the playoffs.

The women’s franchise will host open tryouts Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Georgia Training Alliance complex at 2160 Breckinridge Boulevard in Lawrenceville.
